Who are we?

Evansfield Nursery is an independent, family-owned business based in Lexington, KY, with a growing field along North Elkhorn Creek in Scott Co., KY.

Steve Hurst has been landscaping in this area for over ten years. He earned a degree in Agronomy from UK in 1979, worked as a soil scientist for six years across Kentucky, and has been growing plants in this area for over 15 years.

Sue Rimmer (who is an associate professor of geological sciences) designed and maintains the web site.

Evansfield Nursery, by the way, is named for their son Evan.

What do we offer?

We offer a variety of services including landscape design, plants (trees, shrubs, perennials), hardscapes (walls, walkways, and patios), reworking of contours, hauling in new soil, edging, and mulching (hardwood, cypress, pebbles, etc). Our designs are based on your favorite plants, and each one is developed in consultation with you, the customer.

We emphasize ornamental native trees, shrubs, and wildflowers, as well as exotics, particularly those that are fragrant or augment bird and butterfly habitats. Our goal is to provide a diverse selection of landscape plants. And if we don’t have it, we can find it for you.

One service we offer that you won’t find from most other providers is our “after-care” plan. We offer routine follow–up care, a 6-month “check-up” to make sure your landscape is healthy and meets your needs. We also provide written “care instructions” for all plants from our care database developed specifically for our area.

One advantage of being a smaller, family-owned company is our flexibility. If you want, we can build your landscape in stages (such as putting in the larger trees and shrubs first, more later) in order to fit your needs and your budget.

Our goal is to provide you with the best plants and landscaping,
guaranteed.

How do we do this?

We have chosen to market our plants and services via the web
to minimize our overhead costs and pass those savings on to you.

Unlike most other growers, we market directly to the consumer. We can deliver directly to you cheaply within the Central Kentucky area ensuring that you pay only for the quality plants that you want at a reasonable price.

While on site, we can offer suggestions for your landscape, and provide the personalized service you just don’t always get with garden centers and mail-order companies.

We offer a variety of discounts, including fall plantings and we will have web-specials. Please ask about current offers when you contact us.
